I was born and raised in Florida where I fell in love with dance at the age of 10. I was fortunate to attend Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. School of the Arts, where I was able to expand my dance education outside of my after school classical ballet studio. My passion for ballet led me to the University of Utah, and after six years I graduated with my Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts in ballet performance and teaching – scholarly research respectively.
While I was working on my Masters, I was working as an aide at a physical therapy clinic and I became fascinated with the mechanics of the human body! This is the moment I realized I wanted to pursue physical therapy and someday focus on treating dancers. Four years later, I graduated with my clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University ready to begin my new career.
I have founded Dance Well PT out of a desire to deliver high quality, dance specific physical therapy to dancers. With my background, I am able to understand the physical and emotional demands on dancers of all ages and as a teacher I understand optimal technique. Therefore I can work with dancers to achieve their best level of performance for their body. I can also provide parents and teachers with education and resources to keep your dancers healthy and dancing!
In addition to Dance Well PT, I work part time at Dynamic Physical Therapy in Murray, UT, three days a week. In previous years, I also taught Kinesiology for the University of Utah ballet students and ballet and pointe technique for Bountiful School of Ballet. When I am not working, I really value my time with my husband and pets and we try to get outside and enjoy living in Utah as often as we can!
